In plain language, Roche seeks to educate you (and your child), by demystifying much of the Internet's mystique. Clearly, Roche is aiming this at an audience that is itself only slightly experienced in such matters. By and large, his advice is sound. As an added bonus, space is also given to talking about using a mobile phone. Though the so-called scares about such a phone causing long-term cancer seem overblown. He says as much, to reassure the parent.

Now the Internet is moving onto wireless networks. How are these applications supported by mobile wireless systems? What new and more powerful applications will be possible as the wireless network evolves to support higher speeds and more capacity? This course provides the participants with an understanding of the requirements of the mobile wireless Internet. Detailed in this course are the limitations of the current wireless network with respect to data applications and the fundamental functions of the services network. The key issue of a subscriber receiving service while mobile will be discussed in detail as will the issue of receiving service while the mobile is outside of the service provider's coverage area. A discussion of how a wireless network will need to be modified to support both circuit switched and packet switched data is covered. The course concludes with a discussion of the role that the Internet will play as the services network.
