How could the United States have come to such a pitiful condition?

Congressman Tom Tancredo has been the only consistent voice in our government warning Americans of the dangers of failing to secure our borders and fix the nation's immigration system. Five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the U.S. government still has done virtually nothing to secure America's borders. The government largely ignores the threats to our safety and sovereignty resulting from its refusal to fix a broken system.

What is happening on our borders is one story, but what is happening within America is even more disturbing. As would-be terrorists plot attacks on our country, vocal advocates of multiculturalism are sapping our strength from within. Together, they form a potent adversary that is as great a threat to our nation as anything we have faced in our history.

As a result, America is in the midst of an identity crisis. As a nation we no longer seem to know who we are or what we believe. Instead of "one nation under God," we are divided, confused, and angry. We need to understand how this has happened and the underlying causes that have us to this divided point.

Tom Tancredo lays out the case that unless the United States changes course, it is headed toward catastrophe. Like the great and mighty empires of the past—"superpowers" that onces stretched from horizon to horizon—America is heading down the road to ruin. Without strong moral leadership, without a renewed sense of purpose, without a rededication to family and community, without shunning the race hustlers and pop-culture sham artists, without protecting our borders, language, and culture, the nation that was once the "land of the free and home of the brave" and the "one last hope of mankind" will repeat the catastrophic mistakes of the past. In Mortal Danger is his prescription for beginning to repair the damage.

• Review:: 'A Comprehensive Review of Immigration Reform Issues Congressman Tancredo successfully frames the immigration reform debate within the big picture of nationl security, the health of the economy, job security, efficient and equitable delivery of public services, quality education, environmental impact, and most importantly, the reaffirmation of basic, traditional American values. In doing so, he has provided a great service in helping the reader comprehend the dangers of accepting the recent and continuing uncontrolled levels of immigration as the status quo. Unfortunately, our Democratic and Republican political parties have both failed the American people for their own parochial reasons. My only suggestion for improving this "must read" book for all Americans would be to point out the importance of simultaneous and complete enforcement of both immigration laws and affirmative action obligations to disabled and combat veterans. Even government contractors sometimes hire illegal immigrants to save on labor costs, while also discriminating against disabled and combat veterans to avoid health insurance liabilities. That's the only statistically viable explanation for why none of the 8 pilots from American Airlines and United Airlines who died on 9/11 had any prior combat missions to their credit. There are enough combat veteran pilots to staff the entire U.S. airline industry if our airline managers were to follow the pilot hiring example of El Al which doesn't depend on the unlikely chance of an air marshall being onboard to defend the flight decks of their aircraft. Without enforcement of both sets of laws, our nation will become more and more vulnerable to suicide terrorists willing to strike anytime and anywhere that they are asked. Like it or not, draft or no draft, every American civilian (regardless of age or gender) is an acceptable target for a terrorist and therefore must be involved in the process of providing homeland security. Too many of this nation's employers are putting us all in mortal danger while our government looks the other way and our political parties pocket tainted political contributions made possible from profits gained at least partially by failing to comply with both sets of laws. Thank you for a critical job well done, Tom. Keep up the good work.
• Review:: 'In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security Very informative well written book. It should be a must read for all Americans. It covers issues involving our illegal aliens and the impact to the USA. Mr Tancredo, being a US Congressman, gives a unique prospective of this very controversial problem.
• Review:: '"In Mortal Danger" Alerts Citizens To The Invasion Of America Congressman Tom Tancredo is not a Johnny-Come-Lately to the realization that an invasion is occurring at our southern border. Other members of congress would avoid him, asserting that "Here comes that nut-case Tancredo", a one-issue politician fixated on border control. That is.....until 9/11, that is...until demonstrations, with foreign flags flying, that is.......until other congressmen and women went home and amazingly (to them) found a groundswell of indignant voters who are furious with their representatives for their failure to secure our borders. Having had their feet put to the fire, they now corner Tancredo and ask for details of his thinking on "the border issue" as they call it. Mr. Tancredo takes the reader logically through a recap of what it means to be an American, from the roots of the founding of the nation to the current Balkanization called Multiculturism that threatens the very existence of the country. He covers at some length the details of immigration system in use today, why it as badly flawed and his perception of what is to be done about it. The Congressman also has a chapter on a subject that I have long felt needed to be covered: the threat to our health and our health system. Many illegals, coming from Third World countries have re-introduced life threatening diseases that have long been overcome here. Diseases such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague and polio. Leprosy, as an example, had been so stamped out that in the last 40 years, only 900 people were afflicted. Suddenly, in only the last 3 years, America has more that 7,000 cases of the disease. Malaria, long gone from our country, is now reemerging in Texas. And where is the Main Stream Media in alerting our citizens about this threat? Well, wringing their hands about a Bird Flu death to a chicken farmer in China. The author also covers some obscure, but vitally important subjects like Anchor Babies and Environmental Impact. Obviously, his work as the chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus has given him a unique insight to dangers unrealized by others. This is a powerful book with no punches held back. Well written, and should be required reading by the citizen who wishes to be well informed of the real and present dangers to America posed by our porous borders.
• Review:: 'FANTASTIC Tom Tancredo, who is my congressman here in Colorado (6th Congressional District)- is so awesome. He is going to run for President in 2008 and he is going to save our country! • Review:: 'Thank You Congressman Tancredo I have nearly finished reading "In Mortal Danger" and find it astounding that the American public is so very late in awakening to the problem of border security. Congressman Tancredo's book is an indictment of our administration's neglect of our border. I have the enviable position of being a retired person, very comfortable financially (even without the social security) and as such, have time to be fully informed in regard to events to which the media has paid only cursory attention. Not since Jon Dougherty's book "Illegals" (2004) has anything even come close to describing the crisis of illegal immigration. As Americans we are are taught to be compassionate and considerate of those less fortunate but when we are beset by a veritable flood of humanity pouring over our Southern border, those admirable qualities do not apply. Our legitimate, legal, citizens are being shoved to the back of the line when seeking welfare and medical treatment. Frankly, we should be outraged when those of us who actually pay the taxes which support these services are denied access to them in favor of illegal immigrants. This is precisely why our medical coats are so high! Unfortunately, there seems to be only one voice crying in the wilderness of congress and his name is Tancredo. If it were possible to initiate a new political party before the 2008 election and to name a standard bearer, we could call it the Patriot Party and Congressman Tancredo would be the perfect candidate for the ultimate office. The good congressman has been maligned and marginalized by his own party..... and for what.........we ofen wonder where the statesmen are but when one arrives, few actually recognize him. I for one want to thank him for voicing the opinions of many of his fellow Americans. He may well be surprised to find how many of us there really are!
