• Review:: 'Oh no, not again. Once again, it's interesting to read another Microsoft Press book that has absolutely no relationship to the test on their own product. I didn't learn the first time apparently. I was however prepared for this and memorized my Transcenders (hint hint [if you didn't know already]) and did lots of hands on. You'd think Microsoft Press was an unrelated company. I found it interesting that roughly 20% of the questions in the Transcenders relate to Index Server and the book dovotes exactly three sentences to it - in typical MS Press fashion. But, the smart little box is the best looking of the MCSE books on my desk!!
• Review:: 'This book is hopeless This book gives NO information on Index Server. After reading this book, you may know how to master a Internet Information Server but there is NO WAY you will pass the 70-077 Exam !! Try to study the online documentation and leave this book alone.
• Review:: 'Outdated and doesn't include Index Server 1.1 This book is concise and includes some good practice excercises. It also has a cd-rom with good quality multimedia presentations. However, I would not recommend this book for the current IIS 3.0 exam. Spend your money on the Sybex IIS Study guide instead. It more closely follows the exam objectives and covers Index Server.
• Review:: '*** WARNING *** This is IIS Version 2.0, not current 3.0 You are guaranteed to miss the MCP test questions for version 3.0 and this is still the most current Microsoft Press Training guide!! Of course, enough of version 2.0 is still in the test that you probably will still pass this easiest of the MCSE electives.

• Review:: 'Great starter book, lots of info. Lots of good info. There are some technical terms that were not well defined, but most of the critical information is there. Book is a great starting point. It gets you familiar with all the important concepts of IIS.
• Review:: 'Too basic, and lacking focus If you're considering this book as a basic intro to web technologies, then perhaps it's a decent choice. If you're looking for in-depth details on IIS6, then you should choose another book. The reads an an overview to IIS, SMTP, FTP, etc with no real details on any of them beyond setting up your "first site". Pages that could have been used to provide meaningful detail were spent providing overviews of quasi-related subjects like NLB, clustering and Application Center. Microsoft IIS 6.0 Administrator's Pocket Consultant is a much better alternative, providing the type of content I was hoping for when I purchased this one.
• Review:: 'Great book for beginners, but not an idiot's guide. Hey, it's a great book for beginners. I knew a very little about IIS and windows server before I started. Stuff like what a service is, what an HTML file is. You know, point and click, the basics. If you don't know this stuff then get a basic Windows server book before you read this book. However, if you know the basics of how to use a computer, then that's right were this book picks up. It literally walks you though each tasks, with TONS and TONS of pictures to help you along the way. Honestly, this is the most basic book on IIS I've seen. Great for beginners, but Newbies may want to take a primmer course first
• Review:: 'Read it fast before it crumbles into pages... Even as I read with disappointment the paper back binding started to fall apart. Maybe it was cheaper for the publisher to have this book produced in China or Mexico. Don't buy it for two reasons: 1) The book falls apart into pieces of paper 2) The book include IIS 6.0 in the title, but you have to know IIS 5.0 fundamentals first...this should have been made clear. I think the characterization of the book and what it covered was misleading. The author skips most, if not all, fundamental concepts about IIS I was hoping to learn. I've bought several books since on the same topic and any one of them is much more helpful than this one. Don't buy it it's a waste of your money--choose another!
• Review:: 'A waste of time What an awful book! Nothing is explained in any detail. Jargon and terms are thrown about haphazardly. The author assumes you're familiar with IIS already. He's a real cheerleader for Microsoft on top of it all. (It seems there are no faults or shortcomings with IIS 6.) The writing is very sloppy and typos occur often. What more can I say?
