      • Review:: 'Loving this book! I became interested in making my own beauty products for about one year now which is about when i bought this book. It is truly incredible. It is full of interesting and easy to follow recipes. The list of beauty ingredients in abc order is wonderful because it exlains the use of items and where you can find them. I just cant stop reading this book over and over again. I try new recipes and then read more and try more. I bought Cox's other book "beauty for the seasons" (gift giving) it too is great, but this one is the best beginner and experienced person's choice.I highly recommend it.
      • Review:: 'Good book I found this book inspiring and a good resource for a newbie. What surprised me was the lack of photos otherwise would give it a 4 star. Even without the photos there should be a blurb about each recipe on possible appearance/texture could/would be. Otherwise a good book.
      • Review:: 'What a great idea! I bought the original edition of this book in 1994 when I was a teenager, but lost it when I moved a few years later. I loved it so much that when I couldn't find it in any bookstores, I ordered it from here, and was thrilled to find that it had been updated with new recipes. I'll admit that a few of the ingredients aren't easy to find, (I had to special-order Irish moss and stearic acid powder on the Internet) but it's so worth it once you actually get around to making the product. (The Basic Cold Cream is my favorite recipe; it will thicken correctly if you stir briskly with the pointed end of a skewer for five minutes during the cooling process) Who knew that making your own beauty products could be not only money-saving, but fun? This book even got me interested in a rare hobby that I never would have guessed I'd get into: Soap-making! (I had to special-order lye, too) Thank you, Janice Cox, for this gem of a book.
      • Review:: 'A worthwhile purchase I love this book. I always have a few extra strawberries or some yogurt or mayonnaise in my fridge. Simple, nontoxic, often edible ingredients that make great beauty recipes. I have tried quite a few selections from the book thus far and have been very pleased with the way my hair and face feel after using these simple beauty recipes. A far better buy than running to the department store and paying extortionary prices for products that don't work any better. P.S. I worked for Lancome for 7 yrs., so I feel confident making that claim!
      • Review:: 'All around great book-for whatever you need! I've had a couple natural bodycare books. For many, either the product was a complete distaster or I could not find the ingredients. However, I really would like to not use commerical products, but the natural products in health foods stores are WAY out of my price range! So I followed everyone's reviews and bought this book, and WOW! All of the recipes I've used so far works, and the ingredients are simple and very inexpensive. Here are a few favorites of mine: Honey cleanser- honey, castille soap and rosewater. Beauty mayo (for a skin mask or hair conditioner pack)- oil, egg, apple cider vinegar. Body and bounce beer shampoo-Beer, castille soap, glycerine and borax. And there are so many recipes, a great variety. This book is definitely a favorite of mine and Id recommend it to anyone interested in making natural bodycare products.

      • Review:: 'Love this book and its content... Now that I have had a chance to peruse the book, I can say I only have one bad feeling. Amazon must have dropped my book or the box it came in because a corner is dented in. Ok, so, I am a cry baby about incidentals. I have been told that I am a tad anal also, so, yes, corners bother me. Especially when you lend someone a book and they dog-ear a page. Argh... Enough, the book is as promoted. The images are all crisp and varied. Not a one of the images is out of place. Great job there, from Rolondo's introduction and his perspectives to the conclusion of the introduction, you have already been given a feel for his excitement and energy. Throughout the book, he is insightful and not pushy. I didn't feel like I was being told that this is how to do it and there is no margin. I have done many things and I have learned that as much as one person may believe there way is the only way. I know, short of the simplistic, that is not true. The feeling I received from reading this book is that his ideas are open, and I did it quickly and will go back and read it much slower. The explanations on technique and the end result are very clear, but the ways to it are many. I enjoyed the lighting section immensely, especially the poor man light setup. Being that I have always used fluorescents and anything else I could find. I have, since getting books and reading other's works as well as other's from the glamour 1 site, purchased reflectors and such and begun experimenting on my favorite model Rembrandt (not the toothpaste). To sum up these last few sentences, it is good to know that someone comes right out and says you don't necessarily need the most expensive equipment to produce a great end product. Thanks for that. The book deals with the various elements that go into glamour photography and moves into the different equipment needed. My understanding is awakened in areas I am lacking and I already see how I can raise my photography a few steps. He touches on some areas that he doesn't go into great depth but it is enough for me, anyway, to get my mind thinking about how I look at it and to change some of my basic ideas. Now, since I ordered this book last Feb., I have bought many others. Most of them make great coffee table books for older friends. Each, excepting one or two, had something of use in them but also some that I found, well, basically, not to my liking. This book will go on my list as a very good resource. And I still like the cover, she is a very petty girl.
      • Review:: 'A Complete Course in a Small Book The advent of digital photography has dramatically changed the view of many people on nude photography. There was in the past a background fear of exposure, of pictures sent off for development and viewed by any number of people, of extra copies being made, of pictures showing up in unexpected places, of the thought police deciding that this picture violated the obscenity laws. With digital photography all of these risks go away. As the author says, 'This is an awsome revolution for people who have a passion for glamour but, at the same time, want to be discrete.' This book is the result of a series of workshops that the author has taught which cover all aspects of glamour photography. He covers clothing, accessories, props, picking the foreground and background so they add to the beauty of your subject. Posing the model which can accent the models best features and conceal any problem areas. Although this is not a large book, it is a surprisingly complete introduction to the subject.
      • Review:: 'Good read ,Good Images Let me first start off saying I read a couple of the negative comments, and it seems to me that the negative commentsmade about the book being poorly wriiten and outdated techniques come from some one who probably did not read the book or has some other issues. As I read the book it seems pretty well put together and has a good flow. One of he things that has always bothered me about how to books, or informative books are they have always been hard to read. The information is presented as a school textbook. Mr Gomez's book came across as a one on one conversation. It starts with describing the elements of a glamour photograph and it builds from there. Mr Gomez explains the differences between digital and film. he then moves on to the elements of composition which most intermediate - advanced photographers know, but it is always good to review. ( you may have forgotten something) The book then moves on to rapport building with models and posing. Then we move on to lighting. where one reviewer states the techniques are out dated. I disagree, some of the lighting ideas have been used for years, yes, but they are the same same lighting that is used for fashion magazines, playboy magazine,etc.. Mr. Gomez even gives you an idea on how to build a light set up that normally cost $2000.00 The book then goes on to show ways the reader create and develop their own style. Finally the images in this book are outstanding, they also give tech info on how they were created.I believe that this book should be in every ones glamour library.
      • Review:: 'Garage Galmour This book offered great insight into what it takes to turn out great glamour shots in a wide variety of conditions. While I learned that I will not have the funds to light every shot I might want to take (many $K's for a really well rounded studio lighting set-up), I also learned what I can do without investing half a year's pay. The shots showed a good mastery of choosing lighting, poses and settings that flatter the subject. That made me much more willing to trust the advice of the photographer. This is a good read if you want to start your own business, or just want to get some good ideas on how to create some memories to please both you and your significant other.
      • Review:: 'Wonderful tips and tricks It's a bit thin, but for the price, it's a gripping, interesting read that gives you many many ideas...
